Field Workshops

Facilitated gatherings that surface the collective intelligence of a place and its people.

The Yonder Field Workshop is a pathway to listen to that voice together. Through dialogue, exploration, and design-in-the-dirt, we uncover what wants to take form.

Some of the most important creative work happens not in boardrooms or on screens, but outside in the open — where a different kind of thinking becomes available. YONDER Field Workshops are facilitated creative gatherings designed to surface the collective intelligence of a group. We work in the field itself: in a natural setting chosen for its capacity to shift perspective. Every workshop is custom-crafted to the group and the question at hand, grounded in prior research and stakeholder listening, and translates intuition into direction and imagination into tangible form.

This is where vision takes root — in conversation with the living world.

Every place carries
its own intelligence.

How a Field Workshop takes shape

BEFORE WE ARRIVE

01 / Grounded in your place

Every workshop is custom-crafted. We begin with prior field work, research, and stakeholder listening — so our facilitation arrives rooted in your site's specific context and community.

IN THE FIELD

02 / Dialogue with the land

Participants move through immersive exploration and guided design activities that can only happen on-site. Intuition meets structure. Imagination becomes form. Insights arise that no conference room could hold.

WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH

03 / Momentum born of place

Outputs vary by scope — but always include a comprehensive synthesis of the concepts and patterns explored, along with clarity, shared purpose, and a direction your team is genuinely excited to act on.

See it in Action

Sedona Field Workshop

  • "Hiring Joel to facilitate our Sedona Academy planning workshops was the best decision we made. He brought novel meeting concepts, powerful exercises, and a thoughtful arc that united and guided our diverse team to the clarity we had been searching for. It gave our group the space to truly dream big and co-create a future vision that simply would not have been possible inside a traditional meeting paradigm."

    — Abani Heller
Chair of the Board at Verde Valley School

  • "Joel's ability to listen to the undercurrents and invisible threads of a group completely shifted the potential and meaning of the project in the best way possible. The workshop brought clarity to the vision and unity to a discombobulated team. And the conceptual designs created a felt experience that words could have never captured."

    — Renee Chevrier
    Executive Director at Seedlands

  • “Experiential workshops are better than conference rooms — the power of our group, the unified energy towards goals, was felt strongest when the workshop was outdoors, on the land, together. Even in pure corporate settings this approach will unlock creativity, alignment, team unity and a grounding in the natural world.”

    Frank Ashmore
    Managing Director at 1440 Multiversity

  • “This Field Workshop was an incredible gift of time, wisdom and presence. Joel’s way of seeing and shaping the world through nature is truly inspiring!”

    — Sarah Wiehl PE, LEED AP (BD C)
    Associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers

  • “Joel does a remarkable job of helping all the key stakeholders understand their hopes, needs, and fears to design win-for-all, regenerative partnerships.”
